Reading the Abstract

Created as part of my coursework at Toronto Metropolitan University, this self-directed academic project explored abstract expressionism and modernist painters. I designed a full editorial book examining the work of artists like Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning, framing their influence through layout, typography, and pacing. The process involved researching the topic, writing and formatting content, and producing a fully paginated editorial spread using Adobe InDesign. The project demonstrates my skills in editorial structure, typographic treatment, and designing a compelling visual narrative that honours the expressive power of abstraction.
